What is Recommendation?

A recommendation is a written reference a connection publishes on your profile, visible to anyone who scrolls to the Recommendations section. Because a real person attached their name, face, and title to specific praise, it carries far more weight than an endorsement click. The best ones come from managers, clients, and close collaborators, and they name concrete work: what you did, how you did it, and what came of it. Generic praise, the great team player and highly recommended variety, adds almost nothing. When you request one, make it easy: remind the person which project you shared, and offer two or three points they could speak to while leaving the wording entirely theirs. Reciprocating is normal etiquette, but write honestly rather than trading inflated flattery, because readers can smell a swap.
